Letter from the President Thank you for your interest in the National Character Education Foundation (NCEF). The NCEF believes that it is possible for children and parents regardless of their nationality, race, education, and social position, to be people of Integrity, Respect and Courage.
Integrity: An unimpaired condition where one is behaving and thinking with soundness, the quality or state of being undivided, firm adherence to a code of moral or artistic values, based on honesty, purpose and incorruptibility.
Respect: Holding oneself and others in high or special regard.
Courage: Firmness of the mind and will in the face of danger or difficulty.
The NCEF is a developed group of highly diverse and experienced communicators, educators, professional athletes, musicians, and community leaders who are accepted by today's youth culture and can effectively address and bring positive change to the tragic and often dangerous issues facing our children.
It is our goal to provide an effective service to both public and private schools that will educate our children, their families and the surrounding communities.
I believe that once a person understands he/she is important and has a valued purpose for living the need for illegal drugs, alcohol consumption and crime will diminish. Unfortunately, today growing up for millions of our school-aged children is a very confusing and painful experience. Youth have been turning to drugs and alcohol in increasing numbers to cover this pain. The fallout of this behavior is immense, Violent crimes committed by juveniles has doubled since 1998. The gang is now the fastest growing family unit in America and suicide is one of the leading causes of death among school-aged children. These are our children whom we love and care for and together we will make a difference.
The NCEF program involves character education curriculum, series of school assemblies, classroom visitations, parent and youth symposiums, and educational workshops. They are designed to effectively educate students to healthy self-image, to seek and maintain the dignity of others as highly valuable individuals, regardless of race, religion, or reputation, and to exhort others to do the same.
Sincerely,
David L. Rettig
Founder and CEO
