Mrs. Theresa Stanek
Theresa Stanek began her professional career 25 years ago working with disadvantaged and at risk youth. Much of her work with children was within residential treatment facilities. However, in most recent years she has worked in alternative education, as well as the public school system. Holding to the belief that all children can be successful no matter what the circumstance, she has been able to encourage and witness change in even the most challenging of children.
Theresa is a graduate of Slippery Rock University, holding a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and a certification in secondary guidance. Beyond her academic endeavors — and while balancing work and family — she also finds time to volunteer her services in several humanitarian efforts. She is trained as a Disaster Action Team Member for the National American Red Cross, for whom she travelled in 2008 to disaster-stricken areas to help provide relief for victims of hurricanes Gustav and Ike. She was also recruited by the Red Cross as part of an advanced preparedness initiative in Washington, D.C. during the 2009 Presidential Inauguration. She is trained as a first responder to airline disasters, and she is active at Northway Christian Community, where she serves as an associate team member of their Orphan Care Ministry.
Theresa resides in the Evans City area with her husband Mike, and two children, Laina and Micah.
