Pennsylvania House Minority Judiciary Chairman Ron Marsico visits parental seminar on youth culture at Central Dauphin Middle School.

Chairman Marsico joined parents from the Central Dauphin School
District to hear nationally known speaker and Founder of the National
Character Education Foundation (NCEF) David Rettig. Mr. Rettig's
presentation is designed to help parents understand the ever -changing
youth culture and how it effects their children.

In light of all the recent negative events surrounding our youth at
Central Dauphin Middle School, Principal Pam Boyd scheduled the
seminar to help parents understand the seriousness of the issues and
find the necessary help.

The seminar was very straightforward in addressing the negative
effects of bullying, drugs/alcohol use, teen sexuality, internet
predators, gang involvement, violent music and video games.

"Mr. Rettig who is an authority on understanding the immense pressures
and negative messages facing today's youth culture sent a very clear
message to all of us". Said Chairman Marsico. "The situation
regarding our youth is frightening when you consider the amount of
potentially dangerous issues facing them". He added.

"This is why I have introduced various policies that establish
stronger penalties for drug dealers as well as establishing a new
program designed to help parents. Parents whose children have been
affected by alcohol and drug abuse will now be able to come together
to study accessible treatment services and make recommendations to
facilitate access to treatment and intervention services under this
new program'. said Chairman Marisco.
